supply of LED backlighting technology from Chinese and Taiwanese companies
The rate of LED TV adoption in China is gaining rapid pace over the course of 2010, according to new research data.
Figures collated by research firm All View Consulting has shown that LED-based technology will account for 25 per cent of total LCD TV shipments in China by the end of 2010, reports DigiTimes.
This is up from 10.6 per cent in the first half of the year, in part due to an increasingly abundant supply of LED backlighting technology from Chinese and Taiwanese companies.
Across the whole of 2010, LED TVs will comprise 14-15 per cent of the nation’s LCD TV market.
This comes after manufacturers Samsung and LG told Businessworld last month that they also expect to see major growth in the LED TV market in India.
Ravinder Zutshi, Samsung India’s deputy managing director, explained that this is because “LEDs are much better in terms of picture quality, style, display and long-term reliability”.
