Full-color LED video screens

Full-color video LED screens can be used outdoor and indoor. Modules of outdoor LED screens have frames, which protect the module from atmospheric precipitations and temperature fluctuations. As a rule, outdoor LED modules must conform to IP65 protection standard. LED modules of the indoor LED screens do not need such level of protection and their construction is usually much simpler.

Outdoor LED screens for advertisement usually have large sizes – from 6×4 meters to 12×9 meters and more. A LED screen must possess sufficiently high resolution to ensure good image quality. However there must be a compromise between high resolution, size and overall price of the video screen. Excessive resolution will make screen too expensive and will make return-on-investment practically impossible. For this reason large outdoor LED screens are usually made of LED modules not wider than 40 mm. ATV has developed an economical solution of 38 mm model that is a reasonable compromise between good image quality and product price.

Modern outdoor LED screens have better resolution achieved by reducing pitch. ATV has come up with pitch 22 and 30 mm to offer more sophisticated clients economical video screens with excellent image quality. However, in some high profile cases even this is not enough. A better resolution can be achieved by reducing pitch to 15 mm, resolution comparable to that of computer monitor. For instance, the LED screen with the linear size 9, 6 x 7, 2 meters, with the 15 mm pitch, has resolution equal to 640×480 pixels.

Indoor and semi-indoor LED screens are installed inside buildings or shaded and protected areas and have smaller sizes compared to the outdoor ones. Indoor LED screens are usually assembled from LED modules of 15 and 10 mm pitch pixels, and even lower pitch of 8, 6 and 4 mm that became possible with the appearance of the SMD diodes 3-in-1. As a result, a much higher resolution that is needed to view SMD screens at short distances indoor is achieved.
